BIOGRAPHY

Samuel Ruiz Plaza has been with Minneapolis City since the Crows’ inaugural season. Though injuries have impacted his time with City, Ruiz Plaza remains a slick, inventive attacking midfielder. He’s all movement, all the time, on and off the ball. A fan favorite, he is known as “Sammy with the Good Hair” but supporters who remember his team photo from his freshman year in college.

Ruiz Plaza played at NCAA Division III powerhouse Messiah College. During his time at Messiah he helped lead the Falcons to their 11th National Championship (2017), an Elite Eight run (2018), a Sweet Sixteen appearance (2016), and two MAC Conference Championships (2016 & 2018). Individually, Ruiz Plaza received various honors including USC All-American, USC Scholar All-American, D3soccer.com All-American, USC All-Region, and he was also a two-time MAC All-Conference selection.

Ruiz Plaza captained East Ridge HS to their first ever State Tournament appearance and led them to a 21-1 season his senior year. He was named NSCAA All-Region, two-time First Team All-State, two-time All-Metro, and three-time All-Conference selection.

BIOGRAPHY

Hawkim Sinneh joined Minneapolis City in 2022, making his first appearance in the U.S. Open Cup match against Des Moines Menace. Sinneh impressed against City in 2021 for Granite City FC of the UPSL and, prior to that, had faced the Crows while playing for Minnesota TwinStars in the NPSL North Conference.

BIOGRAPHY

Originally from Chaska, Contestabile excelled in the development academy with Minnesota Thunder Academy. With the DA in flux, he moved to the Portland Timbers Academy where he helped lead the Timbers to an undefeated season and the DA Cup. From there, he played with Paterna CF in Spain via the ETURE Academy program before joining Coastal Carolina…just in time for the pandemic.

He is an exciting pick-up for City. His experience in Spain has honed his technique and movement and there is no doubt he will fit well into City’s system. He’s smart, agile, and inventive. He will be a fun one to watch in the center of the Crows midfield.
