Andrew Soczynski made his second-consecutive start in defense for Boston University as the Terriers remained undefeated on the young season, drawing 1-1 away to Northeastern.
Carson Pina made an appearance off the bench as his Campbell Camels finished their season-opening homestand with three wins, thanks to a 1-0 victory over Old Dominion.

Big Curtis Wagner came off the bench to play 46 minutes for the Greyhounds as Loyola Maryland dropped its first game of the season 2-0 at home to Iona.
Hakeem Morgan started up top and played 60 minutes in the Lions’ first win of the season as Loyola Marymount bested in-state rival Cal 1-0 at home.
Oral Roberts, after facing a pair of ranked opponents, notched its first win of the season, besting Cal Poly 1-0. Midfielder Juan Moreno started, played 62 minutes, and placed one of this two shots on goal.
Wisconsin improved to 3-0 on the season, thumping University of Illinois Chicago 5-1 with Ryan Keefe logging 15 minutes as a substitute.
Friday, August 30
Counterintuitive that a draw at No. 5 Western Michigan might come as a bit of a disappointment, but Victor Gaulmin’s Akron Zips put eight shots on goal to the hosts’ three and would be right to feel a bit hard done by the result. The former Oles and Crows midfielder tallied his first goal in his first start for his new school, finding the back of the net in the 28th minute. The Broncos could only level the game in the 50th minute via a penalty, and from there, the scoreline held.
Mizael Harris (No. 7), Caezar Daniell (No. 16), Mitch Munzig (No. 10) and Joseph Swallen (No. 6) started for Augsburg, with Thomas Menna coming off the bench in a rough game against UW-Superior that featured 36 fouls and seven cautions. Harris and Munzig combined for 10 shots, placing six on target, but the contest ended in a scoreless draw.
For the sixth-straight year, Bethel opened its season with a win over the Northwestern University Eagles. Wasting no time, (No. 10) Jordan Ross scored the first of the Royals’ four goals — his in just the third minute — fighting through contact on the end of a long pass before drilling a shot into the postage stamp.
In a battle of teams with nicknames based on ancestries, it was Nick Kent’s Scots that bettered the Dutch as Macalester won 2-0 on the road at Central College in Iowa. The centerback started and played the full 90 en route to a clean sheet. Take that, Dan Hoedeman and Matt VanBenschoten.
No. 8 Porland took a tough 2-0 loss on the road at No. 10 UCLA with forward Joe Highfield seeing minutes off the bench.
Keeper Evan Siefken started and made four saves in St. John’s 1-0 loss at home to Wartburg.
Daniel Sessler made both of his saves in the first half while the score was still level, keeping his team in a game against Beloit that Saint Mary’s would go on to win 1-0. It was the keeper’s first clean sheet of the season, which is as much as anyone can ask, given it was the Cardinals’ season-opener.
Sunday, September 1
The Terriers drew their third-straight contest, ending level at 1-1 away to UMass Lowell. Andrew Soczynski made his third-straight start in defense for Boston, and his side has yet to concede more than a single goal in a game this season.
Augsburg picked up its first win of the fall 4-1 over St. Norbert College. As they had two-days prior, Mizael Harris, Caezar Daniell, Mitch Munzig and Joseph Swallen started for the Auggies, and Thomas Menna contributed 25 minutes off the bench. Among Crows, it was Harris who stood out in the box score, assisting on Muhammed Keita’s 22nd minute goal and scoring his first of the season in the 84th minute.
Jordan Ross logged 82 minutes and led all Royals in placing 3-of-4 shots on target as Bethel lost away 2-0 to Bethany Lutheran.
Macalester dropped its first game of the season losing 4-1 at UW-Eau Claire, as a familiar League Two Deep North opponent in Nathan Donovan scored twice and assisted on a third. As in the Scots’ season-opener, Nick Kent started and played the full-ninety.
Playing a ranked team for the third time in four games, Oral Roberts came from behind to defeat No. 24 UC Santa Barbara 2-1 at home with a pair of second-half goals. Juan Moreno had a nice assist on the 69th-minute score that leveled the game for the Golden Eagles.
Evan Siefken made a season-high eight saves and has yet to concede more than a lone goal in any game this season, but St. John’s lost 1-0 away to Carroll University.
